Today's shot is pure serendipity. I was putting my photo backpack in the trunk - um, that's the boot for my friends in the UK - and I happened to spot a dandelion in full seed growing in front of my picket fence. The seeds were all intact, and I thought the fence, with an extremely small depth of field, would make an excellent backdrop. So instead of heading to Chepachet as planned, I quickly swapped lenses and took some macro shots. The one you see here was shot with a 50mm prime lens attached to a Canon extension tube (EF 25) to turn it into a macro lens. Focus was manual since the tight DoF was driving the autofocus absolutely bonkers. Rarely does a shot turn out exactly as I envisioned it, but this one did. I love it when a plan comes together.
Post processing was minimal. I used a detail light filter in Topaz Adjust followed by a very slight levels adjustment just to darken the background slightly. Nothing else was touched since I really didn't want to destroy the soft blend of the dandelion puff into the background.
@agavegirl13 Thanks for the fav, Karuna!
