When a major storm is forecast, some Rhode Islanders go shopping for batteries, food, candles, and whatever else they think they may need. Others, such as myself, head to the ocean to view Mother Nature in all her glory. With Hurricane Sandy heading towards New England, many Rhode Islanders went to Beavertail in Jamestown. The section in this photo was on the sheltered side of the island, so the wind and surf was minimal. The thought of someone standing on these rocks, taking in this beautiful scenery, yet still talking on his cell phone just begged for the photo, however. I did take a number of shots from the windward side of the island, but this just had to be my "photo a day".
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. From there I adjusted the contrast, adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, strength, and detail boost sliders. I also heavily adjusted the color sensitivity sliders. A very slight levels adjustment was applied in PSE and I topped it off with a sepia photo filter.
