Waterfront Viewing by kannafoot

Waterfront Viewing

Once again, I decided to drive by India Point on my way downcity, and once again there was the opportunity for a photo. These benches line the waterfront at India Point Park, but they've naturally been empty all winter. Driving by the Park, I was surprised to see this young lady sitting on the bench looking out over the river. Her flowing hair tells you just how windy it was today. That line of clouds you see is the tail end of a cold front that brought gale force winds to the state overnight. The girl in this photo is a Brown University student who said she enjoys coming to this park just to sit and relax.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, followed by adaptive exposure, contrast, regions, boost black, and protect highlights. A brightness / contrast adjustment was added in PSE, and I topped it with a sepia photo filter.

Here's the high res image on Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-ZdKTHnj/0/XL/2013%2001%2031_0005%20copy-XL.jpg
Nice scene - I'm a fan of a shooter of B&W so I'm especially fond of many of your shots.

@wikked Thank you, Grant. I'm really enjoying the b&w conversions. Still a long way to go to perfect the technique, but it's definitely been a fun journey so far.

Nice POV...I love benches and I'm practicing B&W images right now too. I really like the contrast you achieve with nice gray tones!
