I went to the Memorial Day Parade in Lincoln, RI for today's photo. Just before the parade started, this young girl and her family found a spot on the curb right next to me. Her mom was gracious enough to allow this close-up of the American Flag painted on her daughter's cheek. Taking the photo, I also noticed - but didn't mention - the red and blue rubber bands on her braces. Together, they made a fitting display for today's patriotic outing. After taking the photo, I asked her if she knew what Memorial Day meant. She nodded vigorously and proclaimed, "It's the day I get a ton of free candy at the parade." I have to agree that is a day worth celebrating.
Post processing started with a warm tone filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, and protect highlights. A very light levels adjustment was added in PSE.
I used to where colors on my braces to match the seasons and then wait to see who would notice first.
