I originally planned to go out for some street photography at lunch today, but I altered those plans upon seeing the thick fog bank hovering over Providence on my way into work this morning. When I parked along Water Street, I was surprised to see quite a few people out and about. While the intent was to capture the fog topping the buildings, having a couple of folks walking by at the right time added some much needed depth to the photo. Despite being over 90 minutes past sunrise, it was still dark enough in the city for the street lights to be lit. Naturally, this scene had to be presented in black and white. The mood was lost in the color version.
Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment and a sepia photo filter were added in PSE.
I like how it's framed with the tree and the lamppost
