My original plan was to do a HDR composite of the Old Narragansett Church in Wickford. Along the way, though, I decided to swing by the Wickford Harbor just to see if there was anything photo-worthy going on. (I prefer to save the static shots like the church for days when there's nothing dynamic happening in the vicinity.) That's when I spotted this fisherman filling bait sacks in the back of his small boat. I spoke to him for a bit, and he said he'd gone out early that morning but the wind was too strong and the water too choppy to make crabbing practical. His primary catch this time of year are the blue crabs that frequent Rhode Island waters. He was preparing some bait bags for a second attempt this afternoon. It was still windy, but at least the chop in the water had calmed down.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, protect highlights, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
