For today's photo, I decided to visit Narragansett Town Beach. My original plan was to get some photos along the storm fencing they put up to protect the beach from excessive erosion during the winter, but there was a lot of activity along the water so I switched gears into "street photography" mode. This surfer had just leashed his board and was heading into the water. Folks that don't live near the ocean may be surprised to learn that surfing is a year-round sport here. Even as the temperatures drop well below freezing, the faithful will head into the water on a daily basis. The air temperature today was 34 degrees F, and there was a brisk wind blowing, but there were still about a dozen surfers in the water.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, color sensitivity sliders, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
