A street with mariners that are closed for the winter and marked "Dead End" has a lot of potential photo opportunities. There's just such a street off Veteran's Parkway in East Providence, and on a whim I decided to explore it today. There are indeed a number of potential photos, and I'll keep this section on my "safety shot" list given its proximity to both my workplace and the highway. For today's photo, I liked this little scene with an oddly colored post (complete with old braided rope), a sign-board sans board, and some newly scrawled graffiti tags. (The "Hiya" scrawled in the background was an interesting touch. It's not the kind of graffiti tag you normally see.) The signature to the left was a bit intriguing. Something about the stars around it caught my attention, although I honestly don't know why.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-CXkzFgC/0/XL/2013%2012%2030_0009%20copy-XL.jpg
Well, I have a rather odd comment I know, but here it is. This looks like something from out west--the grass as hay, the rope as lariat, the sign board as hitching post, and the "hiya" as "howdy."
