Senseless Graffiti

When I set out for today's photo, this is not what I had in mind. There's an interesting (to me, anyway) street corner about a 100 yards from here, and that's where I was heading. The ice and snow on the bike path were a bit of a nuisance, though, and when I spotted the graffiti on the back of the Dari Bee I decided to capture the scene before it was removed. As far as graffiti goes, this type really puzzles and annoys me. There are certainly examples of extremely well done street art that, while illegal, add a certain flair to a neighborhood. What's on the back of this building, though, is just a bunch of mindless scribbling. All this graffiti does is demonstrate that any fool with spray paint can deface a building. This, to me, falls in the senseless category.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
I agree with you, Ron. I think people who do this think that somehow it just magically disappears through tax dollars, but often it's a struggling small business owner or homeowner who has to scrape together the money to do it or the time to stand out in the cold with water doing it him/herself.
