I was really pressed for time at lunch today, so I swung by Willett Pond in East Providence, knowing there were a couple of static scenes I could use for a photo. This is one of them. The "Danger" sign is allegedly there to warn folks that the current ice conditions are a hazard to skating. It would be more meaningful, however, if the sign hadn't been placed there years ago and never changed. It's especially amusing to see that sign prominently displayed all summer. At some point, signs like that become meaningless since they obviously do not reflect current conditions. Of course, if it stays up much longer, it will become an historical landmark, so I guess there's some potential value in the future.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, protect highlights, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-7fR5D4n/0/XL/2014%2002%2012_0002%20copy-XL.jpg
