Cassidy III

I was wandering around the Fox Point section of Providence today, really unsure of what to photograph. Today was one of those days when I had nothing specific in mind, and nothing was really catching my fancy. That changed, though, when I spotted this Mounted Command trailer parked on a side street running parallel to Wickenden. The horse, a 14-year old draft cross gelding, is named Cassidy III and is stabled at the Mounted Command Headquarters in Roger Williams Park. The horses are used for crowd control in large outdoor events, but are more frequently employed as the Police Department's primary public relations unit. Despite their size, the horses are extremely gentle - especially around children - and are often a center of attraction. As their web page accurately states, "Nobody ever pets a police car."
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
@justaspark Thanks, Jule! I look forward to some police horse photos in the future .
