It was another beautiful day today, so I went downcity at lunch for some street photography. This hot-dog vendor was setup again adjacent to Kennedy Plaza, but what sold me on the scene was this skateboarder near the stand just relaxing and checking his phone. He truly was in a world of his own. When I knelt a few feet away from him to take the photo, he never even glanced my way. The shutter on the 5D III is rather loud in high speed mode, and I fired off a half dozen shots in rapid succession. Still, he never looked up. I always find it fascinating when the subject never glances my way even though I'm only a few feet in front of them and snapping photo after photo.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&S FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-rTB3PpM/0/XL/2014%2004%2022_0029%20copy-XL.jpg
He must have been really focused then. I have an irrational fear of even stopping my car to take a picture of something in a crowded area, so I always view street photography as very impressive and brave. You do a great job of capturing the moment and conveying the nature of each place.

What an interesting shot! There is so much to look at to see what others are doing. It is strange though he didn't glance your way, he must've really been focused! x
