Great Day for a Run

Great Day for a Run

I was a distance runner for years, starting in my sophomore year in high school and running my last road race about 20 years after college. There was a general rule of thumb we used with regards to dressing for the weather. "The amount of clothes needed to keep a sitting man comfortable at 70°F (21°C) will keep a runner warm at -5°F (-20°C)." It's a rule of thumb that served me well through a quarter century of running. With temperatures today hovering just above 70, the runner in today's photo is clearly overdressed. He looked it, too. By the time he reached the top of the hill here, he was definitely struggling, and you could see that he was overheated. Still, it was a beautiful day for a run with comfortable temps and a light breeze. Just lose the jacket!

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, and contrast. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-83N7ZQJ/0/XL/2014%2005%2021_0011%20copy-XL.jpg

Looks like nice weather. Can't believe he would wear so much clothing! Possibly trying to burn fat faster by wearing more?! I know some people who do that....
