Trolling

Lincoln, Rhode Island
The forecast for the next couple of days is a bit grim, which may be the reason a surprising number of people were enjoying Lincoln Woods State Park on a Friday. This gentleman was trolling for trout on Olney Pond. He paused long enough to look up and wave when he saw me standing on shore with my camera. On an interesting grammatical note, it turns out there are two separate words for this style of fishing, but they are not interchangeable. What you see here is someone trolling. He's slowly motoring across the lake, trailing fishing lines behind him. The other concept is Trawling, in which the fisherman uses nets instead of lines. With a Rhode Island accent, though, the two words sound identical.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
A wonderful capture! People are always so friendly when it comes to allowing you to take your shots. I learn so much from your stories in your shots everyday as well! x
