All to Himself

All to Himself

I went to the Albion section of the Blackstone River Bikeway for today's photo. There's an old steel bridge that spans the river, and I was thinking of getting a photo of the bridge from the water level today. It was a grey, rainy day so I really didn't expect anyone to be out and about. Driving across the bridge towards the small parking area, though, I spotted this lone fly-fisherman in the middle of the river. It was overcast enough to capture the waterfall behind him without completely blowing out the highlights, so I decided to compose this photo showing the entire area that he has all to himself. This spot is very popular with fly-fishermen, although I have never seen anyone catch anything here.

Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, details, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-PJhzwkf/0/XL/2014%2006%2010_0004%20copy-XL.jpg
These fisherman sure are determined when it comes to fishing aren't they? A once again spectacular shot Ron, always love your interesting captures! I always learn new things! :)

Hi, Ron. I am back after a week and a half of keeping in touch with 365 via my tiny cell phone. It does not do a photo like the one above justice at all. I am so enjoying going through your photos again on my big screen at home. As usual, they look even more amazing in smugmug.
