Go Fly a Kite

I was having dinner in Warren tonight, so I decided to stop at Colt State Park in neighboring Bristol for today's photo. Driving through the park, I spotted this elderly gentleman sitting comfortably in his camp chair and putting his kite through some interesting acrobatic maneuvers. I wanted him, the kite, and the water in the photo, but the position of the sun forced me to shoot from behind him rather than looking at him from the front. (I wasn't interested in a silhouette scene.) Colt State Park is very popular with kite flyers due to the high winds that come in off the water. Brenton Point in Newport is more popular and they hold a kite festival their every year, but this area comes in a very close second.
Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
@lilminimonka I'm not sure I've ever actually "flown" a kite. Oh, I had many kites commit suicide after leaping out of my hands. Some have nose-dived into the ground, while others hanged themselves in a nearby tree. Getting one to actually stay in the air, though, has never been my forte. I can definitely relate to Charlie Brown when it comes to flying kites. lol
@kannafoot Haha! Perhaps you could buy a kite and try it out in this area? Your never too old or young to fly a kite, and its always lots of fun! Hey, who knows, perhaps your kite might actually fly this time instead of ending up off and away? :D
