While driving to Newport the other day, I spotted an area just before the Newport Bridge where folks were kite-surfing. I didn't have much hope of finding kite surfers during the week, but I thought I'd drive through the area to see what the parking's like and to find my way to the spot when there's no traffic. I'm glad I did. It turns out, it's a beautifully scenic spot with a great view of the Newport Bridge. In fact, it's an area I'll need to return to at some point for a night photo of the bridge. There were a bunch of folks fishing off the rocks here, and the woman in the foreground was placed perfectly to provide some depth and life to the scene with the bridge in the background. As you can see, though, there were no kite surfers out there today.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
