State Capitol From Prospect Park
04 December 2014 -- 338/365
Providence, Rhode Island
Prospect Park is built about 2/3 of the way up a crest of land overlooking the City of Providence. The perspective in this photo should give a good indication of the height of the hills leading up to Providence's East Side. This is the only natural vantage point that places the viewer at eye level with the Capitol Dome. There are several other photos I'm hoping to take from Prospect Park before this project comes to a close. The view of the city is excellent, especially in winter when there is no foliage to block the city skyline. I'm thinking some night shots may be in order.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A b&w gradient map at 50% opacity and a levels adjustment were added in PSE.
@justaspark Thanks, Jule! Hey, my very first postcrossing postcard arrived today! It came from Japan. (Postcrossing appears to be very popular in Germany. So far, of the 12 cards I've sent, 2 of them have been to Germany.)
