Couple of weeks ago I gave you the Robin with the new haircut. Well I popped down again, this time with some bird food. It didn't take long for him to appear and he does seem quite tame.
I wonder if I keep going down and feeding him that he will get even more friendlier, wouldn't it be fantastic to try and get him to feed from my hand. You know what the proverb says, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". So where does that come from, and what does it mean, I hear you ask?
MEANING: It's better to have a lesser but certain advantage than the possibility of a greater one that may come to nothing.
ORIGINS: This proverb refers back to medieval falconry where a bird in the hand (the falcon) was a valuable asset and certainly worth more than two in the bush (the prey).
Good grief Heather's been sensible for a change, best viewed with the black background.
An instant fav for me. I'm crazy about that little bird! I'm sure he's quite grateful for the bird treats. And thanks for the cool info. I love looking up information like that!
Thanks for describing the meaning of the quote.
