These three ancient trees hold even more memories of my childhood, but more at the age of 9 or 10. These trees where actually in the upper school playground and had square walled areas around the bases.
As you can see the school railings have been moved further onto the playground and converted into a car park for the school staff. Most playtimes we all used to sit around on those low walls acting very grown up but playing marbles and Jackes.
These trees are really getting old and although they have been severely topped, they are protected from collapsing by being wired crossways from branch to branch. Hopefully they will live on to be looked at by children in the future years.
I must go and get my skipping rope out or play a game of hopscotch with my elderly neighbour.
Those are big old beauties! A great trip down memory lane with you, I hope your game of hopscotch went well maybe you could just drop the hop and go straight to the scotch.
If those trees could talk...I bet many generations have played by those trees. Hopscotch with your elderly neighbor? Do you really skip rope? You sound like so much fun - wish you were my neighbor we could rollerskate together!
