Sorry to use this capture whilst I get on my soapbox and let rip for a change. You all know that I'm always happy and smiling, well not when some selfish Pratt breaks the law and doesn't give a dam about it.
This morning I noticed this van parked almost outside my home with the driver gone off to work at the chapel you can see in the background. The owners are converting it into his architect office and his home.
I believe it is against the law to park on a pavement, if it is causing a dangerous obstruction. We have some disabled people living in the village using mobility scooters, also several ladies walk by with babies and children in pushchairs and prams. Can they get between the van and the building, certainly not.
Scooters can't get down and up on these curbs, mothers would have to push the babies and children down the centre of the road, does this person care one bit, I don't think so.
Later another van pulled up and I decided I had had enough so went out to confront him. The gentleman asked if I object to him parking outside our home, I replied no as long as you are not blocking the pavement. I asked him if he knew the other van driver, he did and got him to move out a small fraction.
It was a bit better but I was still not certain whether a scooter would get through, Right I'm now going to get off my high horse or otherwise I won't be able to say to you:
It's the same everywhere, unfortunately...we have neighbors who have broken the parking rules for 4 years now - we'd tried everything to get our management company and HOA leaders to intervene - their response? "we don't want to offend anyone by making them follow the rules" The bottom line is people are going to do whatever they want, as long as they can get away with it. I'm glad to spoke up!!!
So inconsiderate ! and such a unconvenience and danger for mums with pushchairs to negotiate , let alone old codgers like me on their mobility scooter ! Not only unpassable ,but also very often no lowered curb to get off the pavement - And they atr breaking the law !! Makes my blood boil as well Heather !
These kind of things make me furious too! Some people only think about their convenience - today I overheard somebody ranting about having got a parking fine "just because I parked on the grass, in the little park"!?! Apparently they think the little park is for them to park, not children to play!
Very inconsiderate, makes you want to put a large sign in the windshield
“ Keep smiling, inconsiderate Parker, Hopefully tomorrow he will be kind enough to leave enough room for wheelchairs, prams and scooter to be able to use the sidewalk.”
just ride past on the other side and accidentally scratch all along the van and leave a note on windshield apologising that it had been such a tight squeeze 🤣
Do you feel better now you have that off your chest? Hope you're smiling again now. I think you should follow Koala Garden's advice. Must be an Australian thing.
Do you not have a parking enforcement officer? You have tried, but the scofflaw is still scofflawing and might need a firmer nudge. BTW I approve of your photographic evidence.
you have photographic evidence of this inconsiderate person breaking the law & not giving a crap...perhaps it needs to be sent to the appropriate authority?!

Not a pratt at all... ;) Quite yummylicious if you asked me. But hey, nobody asked me...
Keep smiling, Heather!
PS: I fully agree and understand your frustration, because I suffer from that too, as our town is full of those pratts. No Chrises, though... :D
