On the left is the start image used for the little planet I created for my get-push chalenge at http://365project.org/ltodd/365/2013-01-26
On the right is a small rotated version of the crop I used -
What did I learn the hard way?
* the height of the details in the 'planet' depend on how much sky & foreground is used.
* Make sure the horizon is dead equal at the Left &Right edges (don't worry about any tilt)
* crop width so a tree/cloud key feature will sort of overlap at the edges
* when you resize without contstraint - choose a size close to middle way between the actual width & height of your rectangle. (ie if 4x3, resize to 3.5 x 3.5) This will minimise the resulting blur from the stretch phase.
* the polar squishing occurs from the top of the image when applied, so the start image needs to be upside down before applying the polar coordinates filter
* check the lens you want to use is actually IN the car before leaving home & driving 30 km to the countryside!! (derrr!)
oh, and hi five - I just learnt how to rotate an image 90 degrees in the Lightroom print to file module... so LR,.. your days of intimidating me are finally numbered!
I need to try this!! Wonder if I have an image already that I could use... peeing down rain here and no chance of a new shot but I could play... maybe... not sure I understand properly :/
@ozziehoffy yes you can Cassandra !! - I practiced on an existing image before going to shoot a specific one. Check out Gavin - he is soo easy to understand - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rbTE71PMYE
it really is only 3 steps -
resize to square without constraint
turn upside down
apply polar coordinates filter!
:) tag me...
Our storm last night had my roof leaking like a seive in three places! Over the road are still without power...even the hospital lost power & they were without backup for 30 minutes, it was a crazy amount of water & wind.
I have a leaking window and part of the garage too... just found there is water leaking and dripping onto the light and fan switches in the garage and also the solar switch things in there. I have no idea what to do and am home alone with kids until Wed. Quietly crapping myself on the inside about the water on switches thing.
