@maggiemae oh thanks Maggiemae - This was taken in the back yard at sunset. set the aperture as wide as possible ( this was my macro lens which can go to f2.8) and aim almost towards the sun and have something that has light reflections a long way behind the subject. You can see the brown colour of the bricks on the house next door! The trick is focusing in the right place if the wind is even mild.
@kph129 Hi Kristin - this was edited ( only a bit) using Lightroom only. I used a version of the split tone preset I developed for http://365project.org/ltodd/365/2014-01-04 and http://365project.org/ltodd/365/2014-01-06. The highlights are golden yellow and the shadows are purple-ish. I might have started with a preset from Julianne Kost at http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/tag/split-tone. If I can find my starting point I will let you know - but I have adjusted the colours, saturation and ratio (balance hi:low light) of the spilt tone. Maybe something like those at http://insidelightroom.com/?page_id=15 ?? It seems to work quite well for back lit shots. I might have also desaturated the green a little. I hope that helps.
Reading through your posts and comment exchanges, I feel as though I might be able to take a class here! Of course I'd have to actually stop commenting and focus on some real learning for a change!
