February black, white & red

My 365 journey has taught me that my view of the world is a series of 'details', rather than as a 'whole'. I don't instinctively compose for form or tone, and I guess that is why I don't think my B&W shots are particularly interesting. I find the February flash of colour a very big challenge. :-D

Well if your last two offerings are any indication I feel like you have a really good grasp of black-and-white both images show fabulous detail!

lovely focus and light... out of curiosity, did you plan out the background to have the line run thru the image? it's nicely angled / positioned to be a leading line...

@northy I was aware of it being there, but did not plan it as such - but did move the shell through 20 different positions to get something to 'work'. Do you think I should have softened the line? maybe I concede too easily with B&W!

I think the line kind of works and is likely consistent w wabi sabi ... Me being a control freak - I would probably have avoided it... But like I said, it does work... However, I'd definitely be itching to tidy up the dark splotchy bit in the top left hand corner... (Clearly I'd fail at wabi sabi ;p)
