My second ONS speed date with Jerry Plume is SOOC (unedited). Rather a long time since I set out to take an unedited image, but embracing the process, I worked on composition and there I was in a silk skirt climbing boulders in high heels after work as a huge storm rolled in.
I loved the sky detail so used exposure lock, but that wiped out the shadow detail. I did try a few in-camera HDR to (sneakily) overcome the huge dynamic range issue, but in the wind, there was no (secure) way to set the tripod in the rocks for the composition I was after.
I really find the ONS process a great reminder of camera techniques I dont use very much. Oh well, enough of these excuses...let's move on...
@pickerandagrinner thanks Louis! I have been 'attacked' photographing a bee hive but luckily not fallen in a river...(so far anyway!!...) Shame about your suit - but at least you have a good (if 'expensive') dinner party story!!
@ltodd Yes did I mention I fell through the ice while sampling the river? I did not get a drop on my camera! And I fell through the ice 2 times. Photography is a hazardous activity. Dodged a bullet that time.
