Did you know that dragonflies existed more than 300 million years ago? Some fossils of dragonflies have been found with wingspans of up to 75cm (over 2 feet)! Pretty scary! XD
There is a larger version if you'll like to see it. 8)
Stunning capture and gorgeous detail ...and the color is truly beautiful. You captured it perfectly ... once more proving what a pro you are. I might have been able to capture one of those giant prehistoric ones. That might have been easier for me. lol I say "might!" I have tried to get one this size all summer .. but it won't happen. And after seeing this, I'd never even upload mine. No way. This is perfection.
gorgeous Livia! I think i would love to see one of these with a 2 foot wingspaon how beautiful would that be!! This is Fantastic and a def. fav..love the color focus and light!:)
Beautiful, outstanding shot! Fantastic clarity and details. Just look at those wings! What a cool dragonfly -- never seen an orange one before. Very interesting info too. :)
My parents just went to a fossil museum that had a dragonfly. I understand they are pretty rare fossils. She said it was the coolest fossil she's ever seen. Love these red guys!
A great, big, red-hued, clearly bright and happy "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
The red dragonfly is common here. This little guy was shot in the mangrove forest where I wasn't expecting to see any dragonfly. He was all alone and quiet. Thank you so much for your comments and faves. I am always surprised by the warm reception, and always grateful for your kind support and generous comments. Thank you so much. My fellow 365ers, all of you, are the greatest source of encouragement for me.
I've probably said before that I've never managed to get a dragon fly. They move too jolly quickly for me. This one's colouring make it the prettiest I've seen. Great detail you've captured.
I'm yet to even find a dragonfly, it certainly wont be red.
