Looks like this Burmese lynx spider has caught herself lunch! Look behind her. She has built an egg sac on the blade of grass. A lynx spider will guard her egg sac fiercely until the spiderlings hatch.
Lynx spiders don't use webs to catch their prey but are not jumping spiders, even though they do jump and run very quickly because they are active hunters. They belong to different families. Lynx spiders are Oxyopidae; jumping spiders are Salticidae.
And I didn't know the grass was that hairy until I looked at the shots on my computer! XD There is a large version to view if you feel so inclined. 8)
THis is a familiar sight to see in my front yard...Lynx spiders in the wide blades of the day lilies....they are so much fun to watch! Excellent capture!
I wonder how much time you spent every day for 365. To get the marvelous pic, the processing , and all the comments you send. Most be quite a lot , I want you to tank you for that. and for the `` wow pic `` every day
Fabulous capture ... the details on here are wonderful. You never miss the tiniest movement. What a pro you are ... you make nature look so beautiful. Always.
Great composition, color and detail.
On a side note: Between endless hours of work and kids, I'm finally getting to the end of "The Wind Through the Keyhole"

Amazing details ( I think I end up saying this for all your macro shots - sorry, but it is true all the time! ) I love all the individual hairs down the edge of the leaf
I tried to photograph snails today and thought about you and your photos and deleted mine because they we just crap ... haha. I will never be a macro person but I love to see your pics! Another great capture, Livia!
A great, big, hungry, expectant and catchy "THANK YOU!" to everyone for stopping by! I hope I haven't traumatized anyone. I know spider shots are scary for some to see. Please feel free to ignore me for a (longer) while because I'll be posting more bug and spider shots in the coming weeks. XD
Again, thank you so much for your constant support. I appreciate it, and am grateful for it.
Wonderful capture! I discovered Lynx spiders last summer. We have Green Lynx spiders. I watched a female guarding her egg sac all summer. I was sad when she disappeared. :0)
