Lights out, power line down.
There's panic in the city and it makes me wonder.
Stranded on the edge of town,
As a distant storm approaches I can hear the thunder.
But through it all, the love inside me grows,
It's such a fine thing to know,
So good to know,
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark,
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark,
Throughout the night, dead and cold,
I've illuminating power in an incandescent soul.
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark,
I started out with just a spark, now I'm glowing in the dark.
Shadows dance on the wall by the fading phosphorescence of our inspiration,
Wait for the hammer to fall, while we close our eyes and hope it's our imagination,
But through it all, the love inside me grows,
It's such a fine thing to know,
So good to know, so good to know,
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark,
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark,
Throughout the night, dead and cold,
I've illuminating power in an incandescent soul,
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I started out with just a spark,
Now I'm glowing in the dark.
Into the world there came,
This everlasting flame,
Now burning in my heart and through my life.
It keeps me glowing in the dark,
I'm glowing in the dark.
I started out with just a spark,
Now I'm glowing in the dark.
Words and music by Stephen Crumbacher
I was looking at an article that someone posted yesterday about a man who paints with light. The photos of his work were fascinating and the "tools" he uses to create these amazing light pictures are surprising. I started to wonder what kind of light painting I'd be able to do with my camera and the light-up toy I'd bought for Leigh to play with when she comes to visit. I was pretty pleased with the results and had some fun adding a few special effects. Of course this kind of "playing' always brings me to some sort of reflection. Looking at my picture made me think of two things. First I thought, "Cool. I look like a singer on an album cover!" (Believe me- it's a flight of fancy, I know!!) And secondly, it reminded me of this song. I look back over my life and remember some darker moments but I also remember one day where that changed. This tiny little light of faith took hold in me. And it has consistently burned since then. I started out with just a spark, but now I'm glowing in the dark.
@stinkypete You can find it on YouTube Pete under the band name "Crumbacher". They were popular in the 80's on the underground Christian music circuit. I think they only produced 2 or 3 albums and then they disappeared into the sunset. Way back when, when my husband and I did youth ministry, we took this song, had the teens dressed in black, with white gloves, white sneakers and white face paint under blacklights and did a routine for it on youth sunday. The church was totally impressed. It was great!
Thank you for your follow right back, I think I may have followed you twice and had to delete, but I sorted it out, I think?!? your shots are lovely, your words wise, I look forward to following you right back. Cx
@melorac Thanks Carole! I don't think you're on my list twice. I saw the post that you'd followed me, but couldn't find your name on the list at first- sometimes these things get lost in cyberspace- who knows! Anyway, I think we're connected both ways now, so all's well that ends well. Thank you so much for your kind words!
@karenann Thanks Karenann- as for photo processing, I just use Picnik- an online photoprocessing program rather than something like photoshop which you load into your computer. I just pop around the different options on there until I find something I like. Not much to it, other than experimenting and seeing what looks best. I'm glad you enjoy it!!
@httpgeffed Wait till you see the second light shot- and when you do, then it's your turn to do one!!! @digitalrn Yes Rick I was- up till 1 AM playing around with that silly thing!!
@steeler Thanks Howard. This particular effect is called light circles- or something to that effect. It always reminds me of a toy my sister had called Lite Brite. You made pictures with little tiny lights on the front of it and they looked like this.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia- actually Jeff is the rocker in our family. I'm more John Denver! But he had album covers too! @cimes1 Thanks Carole- it was fun to do. Yes, it is a throwback to the classic rock and roll era in a way. But I was more into folk, folk-rock than the heavy duty stuff. (o:
