It was time today to revisit the Bushkill collage I started a few months ago at the urging of Mrs. Smith (@mrssmith). The lovely Bushkill runs through our community and is known for its clean and refreshing waters. Most of the time it is a gently moving river, great for fishing, swimming and tubing. But within every season, there are tiimes when these pretty waters get fiesty and long before building codes were enacted, a few vacation homes were built precariously alongside it. I always wonder what must go throught the minds of this home's current owners every time the water begins to inch up that retaining wall on their front lawn.
So here are the seasons of the newest collage in order: The first shot on the far left is the Bushkill in the Spring (see March 11 for a slightly different view of the house) after a week of warm and rainy days which melted snow north of us and raised the water level to flood stage The shot in the middle is from July 25 (the first time the collage was posted) when the rain was barely making a dent on the water level. At that time it was possible to wade across the river and the water would only reach your ankles. The final shot is from my fall foliage outing yesterday. As I predicted in July, God has painted the landscape with some beautiful colors. We've had a very rainy fall so far, and in turn the Bushkill has risen to a comfortable level for fishing, but the cooler weather of the last two days is certainly not what you'd want to go swimming or tubing in! Well, I've completed 75% of my assignment. Next up- winter. What will the landscape look like then?
Very interesting idea for a collage, Ann. Love the changes and also love the trees framing each photo! Nice follow through! Can't say that I'd want to own that house tho . . some very angry looking rising water there.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @michaelelliott Thanks Michael- yes PA- I'm not too far from you! In fact I might be in NYC on Tuesday for a special preview of something Discovery Channel and the Israeli Antiquities and Tourism Bureau has put together on the Dead Sea Scrolls. The biggest obstacle right now is figuring out how to get there! I don't usually drive in the city- although I used to drive through it to get to Pratt and Adelphi when my sons were in college- so I hesitate to drive myself now. Anyway- that's not your problem!! But yes- I'm in Pa. East Stroudsburg to be exact- just a hop, skip and jump from the Delaware Water Gap. @karenann Thanks Karenann! So far I have never seen the Bushkill go over the top, but in March it was definitely kissing the edge!
@olivetreeann - I used to own a home in Hemlock Farms for many years. The family would spend the summer there. I fished all over that region and in winter would ski the mountains. Beautiful area NE PA.
@olivetreeann - from your area you can take an express bus straight into the Port Authority in midtown Manhattan. its like 2 hours. I used to do it back and forth to Hemlock.
@steeler Thanks Howard! @michaelelliott Thanks Michael- yes the Martz line goes from the Water Gap into the Port Authority. I'll be checking out schedules etc. tomorrow. Hemlock Farms- is that in the Milford area? It sounds familiar. We've lived here for 8 years now, but I'm still a Jersey girl at heart (a real Jersey girl- not Jerseylicious ridiculous!). It is a beautiful area but it's such a mishmash of NY/NJ overflow and locals. So many people moved out after 9-11 the roads weren't ready for it and so on... I do like the nature part of it though. No complaints there.
@cimes1 Thanks Carole- it was an idea from one of my followers. Still have winter to do and that means I have to remember to shoot it one more time. This could be interesting with my memory!!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- the middle one is a repeat (first posted on July 25) and the first one is also a repeat sort of- I uploaded the wrong picture and was too lazy to remove it and upload the right one! So I used a dfferent shot from the same day as the original collage post.
@changingtides Thanks Allie! I love doing collages- they are a lot like the scrapbooking I do. The other bonus is that you can put a lot of good pictures up at once! (like I did on the 11th!)
@geertje Thanks Geertje! The water is a little bit stronger than usual- but not at its highest or wildest- that would be the first picture! The height is about average though. Thanks for the veiw and comment! I love getting your feedback.

@bkbinthecity thank you bkb!
Thank you both- I really appreciate the comments!
I love being at the water but this is getting a bit too close.
