Today has been such a wierd day for weather. When I woke up it was cloudy and grey. An hour later the sun was shining. And just as I was ready to drive out to take photos of my favorite old barns, it started to rain. So I abandoned that idea and called a friend to say "hello". By the time I got off the phone, it was sunny again. But now I had a task scheduled and couldn't change the timing! So instead of the barns, I set out to see what was in the yard today. I also shot a picture for the book-word-challenge. When I finished my chore, it was hailing! It rained some more and finished off the day with a clear sunset. Go figure! All that to say, this was one of my little discoveries today from a visitor to my birdfeeder. I hope you had a more consistent day than I did!
Very nice calling card.. the leaf shows us its fall weather. you know what is was where I am.. it finally stopped raining but its suppose to be like this all weekend.
@adobewaters Thank you Adobe! @bruni Thank you Bruni. It had stopped for a while, but I hear the rain again and now there's even some wind. I had heard we're in for this all week end too.
@michaelelliott Thanks Michael! The only thing I moved was the feather- picked it up from the ground and put it on top of the leaf that was stuck to the railing. I liked the curve. All set for my trip to the city on the 25th- maybe I'll see you there!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick- it was a crazy weather day! But the lighting on a grey day is actually better to shoot in- less shadows to contend with. And it seemed to give the feather a little depth too.
@mrssmith That was the one thing that I didn't like about my former classroom- no windows. So I understand that feeling of disconnect with the outside world! Make sure you check out the 10/13 picture- it was inspired by you!
What a crazy day you had! Great shot! (Magic saw it and said 'peekaboo' which is her excited noise, so you got critical acclaim from the feathered community! :) )
@alia_801 Thank you Alia and thank you Magic!! I will pass along your appreciation to the Mourning Dove that contributed to this masterpiece! @cimes1 Thank you Carole- since this one was on the small side I thought it was very pretty. @summerfield Thank you Summerfield and thanks to your grandson. It's fun to see how many people enjoyed this shot. It came together rather simply, but I am pleased with it. I like that you found something symbolic in it too. @crickle1969 Thanks Chrystal! Glad you liked it!
@bkbinthecity Thanks bkb. This morning is sunny but breezy and the temp. is definitely fall. So I'm going to get myself in gear and go out and find something interesting to photograph!
@allie912 Thank you Allison. Most of the time I try to shoot "as is", but I did pick this feather up and put it somewhere else. Sometimes it's ok to altar the rules a little bit (o: .
@httpgeffed Thank you Colleen!
@espyetta Thank you MaryBeth- yes this was the wierdest day for weather!
@bruni Thank you Bruni. It had stopped for a while, but I hear the rain again and now there's even some wind. I had heard we're in for this all week end too.
i love the contrast in textures and colours of your subjects. it's like a metaphor for good and evil. great shot.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole- since this one was on the small side I thought it was very pretty.
