My Pillar of Strength by olivetreeann

My Pillar of Strength

I've been staring at this picture for the last hour trying to figure out a title for it, when suddenly it hit me- today is my dad's birthday! Dad has been a pillar of strength throughout my life; demonstrating to me the attributes of faith, loyalty, steadfastness and perserverance. He has a wry sense of humor, a stubborn streak, and a giving heart. For many years he worked as a comptroller for a rubber importing/exporting firm, but when that company was sold, he and my mother eventually ended up buying a small convenience store in Vermont. My mother's unexpected death took away some of his zest for life, but I think his grandchildren and great-grandchildren have restored a bit of that. I'm certain I inherited a love for birdfeeders from him, and I think I may have picked up a bit of that stubborn streak too. But most of all I realize that a good part of who I am today is due to his outstanding job as a dad, his confidence in my abilities and discernment, and his enduring love for me, even when I didn't always deserve it. Happy Birthday Dad!!
Wonderful capture! Happy birthday to your Dad!

Great photo. Your POV, texture and processing is excellent. The pillar has some wear as its been tested by time and has proven the strength to endure. Very fitting for a tribute shot to your dad. Well done!

@kloud Thank you Bonnie- I am slightly biased when it comes to my dad, but yes in many ways I think he is amazing. I was really pleased with how this one turned out since I had an idea in my mind when I took the shot.
