In keeping with my challenge to myself to use my Nikon for the main album and my Canon or Nikon for the second, I realized I needed to take a shot for the main album about an hour ago! Oops! So this was a quick shot, which didn't come out all that great, somewhat salvaged in processing. My only real hobby at present is photoscrapbooking, which has been truly put on the back burner thanks to 365! In the past I've done everything by hand, but I've completely run out of shelf space with those big bulky albums, so I think I'll be converting to digital albums very soon!
Cool capture of your kit! I'm struggling to work out how to do this word too... I have several hobbies, none of them very photogenic... Yours works well for your pic, especially with this processing :)
Did you hear that picnik is soon to disappear and move to Google? :(
One of my favorite hobbies but never have the time lately to work on it any more. My stack (and I mean stack) of projects is in my den waiting ;-0 Have a great trip to MI. Love the way you displayed your scrapbook materials....cool!
Ah! Great shot of a great hobby! They have a sewing shop near my new home and I am thinking of learning to sew and use the sewing machine Sally gave me! :) On a cold winter's day there is nothing better than a good hobby!
@steeler Thanks Howard- it's fun. @woot Thanks Davide! They make all kinds of decorative cuts and I collected them over a period of time. @alia_801 Thanks Alia! It was a hard one in that I just couldn't think of an interesting way to display it and so I resorted to this, but I'm not crazy about the shot at all-even with the posterize effect. Yes I know about Picnik and I don't understand what they're switching to, so I gues I'll have to find something else. )o: @leslie55 This word- hobby- and 30 others were part of a "Treasure Hunt Challenge" started on Jan. 1. Some of the other words were moon, blue, window, rainbow, bubbles and vintage. You didn't have to follow any particular order and there were no limitations in the way that you could interpret the word either. Some words were hard (shark) and others not so hard (black and white). @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @digitalrn lol Rick- thank you. @cimes1 Thank you Carole- it was actually a scrapbooking friend who introduced me to 365. But 365 has definitely taken over some of the time I used to Scrapbook! @potsbypam Thanks Pam- sounds like a good hobby to start! @mrssmith Thanks Carla! Oh, I think you'd be very good at it. I sort of remember something you posted a while back that had some sort of book you'd be writing in. It reminded me of scrapbooking although I can't remember what you called it. I do enjoy it, but I'm finding the albums need a lot more space than I have, so I might have to go digital with it out of necessity! @karenann Thanks Karenann- it's a fun hobby but you can accumulate a lot of stuff for it. I have limited myself on purpose. I'm not the only one who lives in this house!
@prttblues Thanks Bev! Some people go crazy with it, but I like to keep it simple and quick. I've been to gatherings where people to 2-3 pages over 5-6 hours and others pump them out like a printing press. I'm somewhere in the middle. I want them to look good, but if I'm not interested in taking forever to choose paper and stickers- blah, blah, blah. So usually it's a few stickers for me, nice paper and a layout that features the pictures not the stuff around them. I haven't been scrapbooking much since I took up 365. But I really should finish off what I do have.
when i got into crafts many years ago, i accumulated massive amounts of materials. i needed a storage space to store them when i started to write full time and i couldn't attend to them anymore. two years ago, i finally gave in and started to give them away and the recipients were overwhelmed that i was just giving them away. but of course i gave them to only a few who i knew were doing crafts so i know they would be put to good use. now, even my old manuscripts would need to be "digitalized" so i can release that storage space and save the money. how wonderful technology is sometimes. although i still can't and won't part with the tools, like a nice pair solingen scissors and i'm wondering what i would do with that but that's the only thing i can show for my 'hobby' which i don't do anymore. hobby is so hard to photograph i'm almost tempted to change the 'o' to 'u' but even that i don't have, my partner told me. hah!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki- I understand. When my boys were young I had several hobbies, cross-stitch and embroidery, and photography, but eventually I settled in on scrapbooking and gave up the others. I just couldn't afford to do everything. And even with scrapbooking, I haven't gone crazy with all the things you can buy for it. But now, I'm finding that what's taking up more space than anything are the photobooks- they're so thick!! So, I think I am going to switch over to digital. As much as I love working on the pages myself, I have no place to put all these albums!! The digital ones are as thin as a book and take much less space. My turn to babble!
