Someone You Talked to Today by olivetreeann

Someone You Talked to Today

I am a person of faith and prayer, so today and everyday, I have a conversation with God. And that's just what it is- no fancy words, no memorized poems, just a conversation where I speak my heart and then listen as He speaks to me.

Have A Talk With God
Words and Music by Stevie Wonder

There are people who have let the problems of today
Lead them to conclude that for them life is not the way
But every problem has an answer and if it's your's you cannot find
You should talk it over to Him
He'll give you peace of mind
When you feel your life's too hard
Just go have a talk with God

Many of us feel we walk alone without a friend
Never communicating with the One who lives within
Forgetting all about the One who never ever lets you down
And you can talk to Him anytime He's always around
When you feel your life's too hard
Just go have a talk with God

Well He's the only free psychiatrist that's known throughout the world
For solving the problems of all men, women, little boys and girls
When you feel your life's too hard
Just go have a talk with God

When you feel your life's too hard
Just go have a talk with God
When your load's too much to bear
Just go talk to God He cares
I know he does

When you feel your life's too hard
Just go have a talk with God

This is one of the beautiful stained glass windows in our sanctuary. It depicts the time when the disciple Peter walked on the water with Jesus. But when Peter took his eyes off of Jesus, he began to sink. Jesus then reached out to help him. Many times I feel my walk of faith is like this. I stumble or sink in my trials and worries, but then Jesus reaches out to help me. Oftentimes, it is in my conversations with Him that I feel Him grasping my hand and helping me along.
This is a beautiful stained glass window! I like the song lyrics, too.

What a beautiful stained glass window

@eudora Thank you Diane! Actually being that you love architecture, you would really love our church. It was built in 1825 and has some beautiful brick work as well as these amazing stained glass windows.
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi! It's a great song. Not only did Stevie Wonder record it, but one of his proteges did too- a Christian artist by the name of Jon Gibson.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! Yes, there are 8 of them in our sanctuary- all beautiful.

@karenann Thanks Karenann! Thought about standing on the pew and shooting at eye level, but I liked the way this made me look up as if praying.
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen. I have a friend who does stained glass- it's awesome! And so is talking to God!
@tklein Thanks Tina!
@peterdegraaff Thanks Peter! (Love the frog on the tomato thread- good for a smile and more)

Thanking God for all your wonderful comments!

Great stained glass photo. Ann, I think the church I attended as a child had a similar stained glass window, all most looks identical. I am going to go back and visit the church to see if I am right. Photo to follow.

@rhubbard I'll look forward to seeing that Richard. I imagine that if it was built in the early 1800's the style of the windows might be very similar. Or if it was a Presbyterian Church, it might have similar subject matter. We have some very interesting windows. This one is in a more "modern" or stylized picture while others are very ornate. And one has been attributed to Tiffany. Even though they are all beautiful and unique they are still a cohesive unit within the sanctuary.

Absolutely stunning! Such amazing stained glass captured beautifully in your photo.

A beautiful photo Ann, and I Love how you put it, just a simple talk with Him. Oh it is so wonderful to be able to do that anytime, and to know He is always there when we need to share our thoughts and concerns.

This is beautiful Ann, what a great find.

I am always amazed by the colours in a stained glass window but more importantly the stories that they tell. Great shot

What a beautiful stained glass window. This gospel story is one I find very meaningful too.

That window is fantastic, and you've captured it beautifully

@summerfield Thanks Vikki! This one has the HDR effect from iPiccy. I also did a "no-frills" version on Picnik, but ending up posting this one.
@deniseinindy Thanks Denise!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I agree!!
@tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja!
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! Many years ago, they were the only Bible some people could read. And what a beautiful way to read it!
@louisefrance Thank you Louise! Your words remind me of an old Gospel hymn "I Love to Tell the Story" which says pretty much your exact same words.
@woot Thanks Davide- the window in its entirety is stunning, and I did take a full length shot too, but decided I liked this cropped version for the challenge better.
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! When you have a beautiful subject you really can't go wrong- the decision to be made here was a full length shot vs. the cropped version. I felt focusing in on a smaller part went better with the challenge.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia- it actually came to me during the sermon which was on prayer! Up until that point I was going to take a picture of some of my friends at church during the coffee and tea time. But I liked this a bit better- different- like all your great shots with the parrots added on to the challenge words!
@la_photographic Thanks Laura!
@sangwann Thanks Dione! That's great!!

Bev
I'm not a believer... I have a hard time believing in anyone that can keep someone's entire life in torment with hit upon hit upon hit without let up. Soon will be the breaking point. Your words are beautiful, but still not convinced. This picture is nice, but because of the colors in the stained glass you captured. Good job.
March 12th, 2012
a beautiful window!we have some too in romanian churches!
March 12th, 2012
Really beautiful shot
March 12th, 2012
@filsie65 Thank you Phil!
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! And thank you for the fav!
@prttblues Thank you Bev- especially for your honesty. Both faith and life can have some major twists and turns and some seem to have more to bear than others. I can't explain it all, nor would I try. I'm not really trying to convince anyone here (so I hope you didn't feel like I was). I was just posting my perspective and experience such as it is. I'm glad you like the photo for the photo's sake because when all is said and done, I could have just posted the picture all by itself as it is in its own right a beautiful piece of art. Thanks again for your sincerity and comment. I hope you don't mind, but I do pray that all things will work out for you and your housing. If you prefer that I don't, let me know. I will respect your request and stop- and it will not hurt my feelings at all. Oh my, I didn't mean to write this much!!
@meoprisan Thank you Mihaela. I imagine they are quite beautiful!
@melorac Thank you Carole!

March 15th, 2012
@adobewaters Thank you Adobe. I do try to be hopeful- it's not always easy as you know, but it is much better than the alternative.
March 15th, 2012
How beautiful both in words and image!
March 16th, 2012
@potsbypam Thank you Pam. I've been going through a bit of a struggle too. Jeff's work dried up 3 weeks ago, and I've been out of a job for 2 years. Seems so crazy and hard to keep going sometimes BUT then I go to church and see these lovely windows, talk to my friends there and hear about what they're going through and it helps to know I'm not alone.
