@tklein Thank you Tina! I had a good time shooting this one this morning. The light coming in through the sliding glass doors was just right. @bruni Thanks Bruni- but I really couldn't make up my mind as to which was my favorite! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @daveanajao Thank you David! You are welcome to print it off if you really want to! (o:
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi! @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen! @summerfield Thank you Vikki- I liked that one too, and the third one because of the composition. But then I liked the detail on the first one and the contrast on the last one. But the lighting on the second one was really nice.... @sarasdadandmom lol Terry. Yes, I do. (o: At least my husband thinks so! @cheyrebecca Thank you Cheyenne! I'm glad you like it.
@tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja! @dmariewms Thank you Marie! This is an odd fork, not part of a set, and I have no idea how it ended up in my house! @alia_801 Thanks Alia- indecision is the mother of collages. (o: @steeler Thanks Howard! @peterdegraaff Thanks Peter. Just couldn't figure out which one I liked the best. @sangwann Thanks Dione. Everytime I'd settle on one as being the "best", I'd take another look at the others and then go back to not being sure. @la_photographic Thank you Laura. When faced with several options and indecision, I punt and go for the collage.
@tbats22 Thank you Tiara! I'm glad you like it! @woot Thanks Davide! I like playing around with the presentation. I felt the up and down flow of this format was a nice compliment to the bends and curves of the fork.
@meoprisan Thank you Mihaela! Oh, you have it, it sometimes takes time to develop it. Normally I would have put the fork down and taken a shot. But now I will ask myself questions. How else can I photograph this? How much can I leave out and still give the impression of a fork? What happens if I take the camera and put it right at the edge of the object? What does it look like if I take it from the side? Each one of these shots are the result of one of those questions. It's almost like a child's game you play while taking the pictures. So don't give up on yourself! Keep trying different things. Another thing you can do is to copy pictures you think are creative so that you learn to look at other objects in a similar way- very much like some art students who are sent to copy the Masters in order to learn brush technique and other aspects of painting. And remember too that everyone has creativity in them, it's up to us to discover where it lies.
Interesting quadtych (or polyptych if you prefer). I wrestled with forks for some time and gave up on them. They should be great for photos, but I could not make them so. Some things only come to those that have the right way of 'seeing'. When it came to forks I obviously did not get it! I think you did a lot better than me! LOL. Nicely done.
@netkonnexion Thank you so much Netkonnexion. I think I took these after I read your comment on minimalism and I was really trying on a few of them to get down to the bare minimum (or it might be just after I did this you posted the screwdriver shots- can't remember now) which was why I liked the bottom two. But the top two appealed to me because of the flow of the picture- the swoop across the page. In the end I just posted all of them because I couldn't decide which I liked the best. At first I was going to put the shots up horizontally and then thought- too common, everyone does it that way. Which got me thinking about the vertical presentation. The second I put it that way I knew it was the way to go.
Good fork pictures, Ann! I like the creative angles that you shot, and the way you packaged them together makes the pictures stand out even more. Isn't it funny how a simple household utensil can be so interesting?
@donhoupt Thanks Don! Yes, I enjoy challenging myself in two ways with something like this- first to see it in a new way, and secondly not to shoot it like others have- or the typical artsy shot as it were. Glad you liked it. @shawnasays Thanks Shawna!
