I was fascinated with the idea of shooting a sunset in black and white- something I've never done before. Sunsets have such beautiful colors, but what effect would the light have on clouds and scenery when those beautiful colors were removed. Rather than destroying the beauty of this daily phenomena, the black and white enhances the effect of the setting sun's on the clouds and makes the silhouettes of the trees look like an intricate paper cutting.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @anazad511 Thank you Ana! We had a great visit and it ended too quickly. Tomorrow I head out to see how my father is doing. @wenbow Thank you Wendy!
Thank you all for faithfully commenting on my photos even when I can't comment on yours. I hope to be getting caught up quickly when I get settled in at dad's.
@kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi! @salza Thank you Sally. I had not thought of it either, but I wanted to take a stretch artistically with b/w and challenged myself to shoot something that I would naturally shoot in color in b/w instead. I was pleased with the result! @juleswoome Thanks Julie! @summerfield Thanks Vikki!
@olivetreeann I'm glad I found this challenge you created as it has made me think outside the box! Still undecided for next week, but sure I'll come up with something.
@salza I'm glad you feel that way Sally. I'm enjoying this too and although I might not be able to post for the time I'm with my ailing father, I am glad I can still view and comment. I am enjoying this challenge too. I like the weekly pace. It's a nice change from the word by word challenges I've been doing for a while. @alia_801 Thanks Alia! Check out Sally's comment to me- your ideas were a great contribution to this challenge! @zshadowwalker Thank you Adrian!
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian. It was really interesting to shoot a sunset (which did have some awesome color to it!) in black and white. I found myself really looking at the light for a change and not the colors. It was a nice personal challenge that resulted in a great shot.
