Selfless selfie today. I set this one up on our day in Cape May. (In fact this was taken just before yesterday's shot.) I never leave the house without my sunglasses- even on cloudy days!
It was Jeff's idea to eliminate the landscape below the glasses and leave only sky. He thought it gave the shot an interesting effect. I'm sort of ambivalent about it. I liked the completely blurred landscape behind the glasses. But I also like the way this now features the glasses without any competition from the background. What do you think?
It's a very interesting effect. . .and leaves me wondering how you did it. I'm guessing you cloned the sky? I need to learn all of those wonderful PS tricks!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri- it's more like a filter though as the picture is shot through the glasses not off of them. @espyetta Thanks MaryBeth. If you can imagine the sand and green grass of the dunes continuing on between the two eye pieces, that's what it looked like. The only thing that wasn't blurred was the edge of the sunglasses. I will maybe post the other one some day when I can't come up with anything else! @lyno Thanks Lyn. Yes, I did clone the sky but I don't use Photoshop. I use PicMonkey- it's much more user friendly and just my speed! @digitalrn Thanks Rick- he humors me every once in a while! lol @beachradish Thanks Beachradish! (I love brown and blue too!) @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! I appreciate the input! @mrssmith Thanks Carla!
@jesperani Thank you so much Jennifer! I must give credit to another photographer (whose name I don't remember!!) who had tried this on one of her shots. Hers came out with a beautiful golden glow like a sunset. I think the difference was in the sunglasses we used. I might be tempted to try some other kinds in the future if the setting is right. Have fun with your experimenting and thank you so much for the fav!
Love it!! Great lighting and color tones. Wonderful pov ...I think that Jeff did good!! I like input on what to upload sometimes too. It's nice to have someone else's pov and opinions. I wear my sunglasses all of the time too, Ann. I get migraines from bright sunlight. However, that changed when I started taking pics. I can see the settings better with my regular glasses, so I'm probably straining my eyes more. However, no migraines yet either.
@karenann Yes the bright light has always been a bother for me and even cloudy days can be "bright" so that's why I'm always wearing dark ones! So far though, I am not able to go without. If I'm taking photos, I'm taking them off, putting them on, taking them off, putting them on...!
cool selfless selfie. we should have a month-long challenge of selfless selfie. i'm liking it - you get to post pretty photos and not worry about removing wrinkles from the photo which is never successful anyway. cool shot, ann.
@filsie65 lol Phil- my husband and I were putzing around on the tv a few weeks ago and stumbled on an old episode of that show! I hadn't associated it with this shot- but you're right!!
@vposey Thanks Vickie- It worked well for this. I have one last selfless selfie to do and I have no idea what I'm going to do for it! I've had my fill of any kind of selfie for a while!
