Awesome August 29 by olivetreeann

Awesome August 29

One thing I will not miss from the summer is the chore of stacking wood for the coming winter!

(I'm posting the rest of this week's shots early as I won't be able to post my pictures while visiting in Michigan. There is no need to comment on every shot unless you want to!).
Great processing, very old world feel!

Great processing

@salza Thanks Sally- it looked sort of boring "plain" so I thought I'd give it the Dauggertype effect.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!

great old world feel to the capture. great textures, detail and framing.

@kandernob Thanks Karen. I had taken it in color, but it just looked very boring. The Dauggertype effect really perked it up.

@olivetreeann Yes, I agree, gives it a very fitting presentation.

Very cool processing of a very large woodpile.

Just looking at the wood reminds me that it will be heating season soon - yikes!
August 30th, 2012
@tara11 Thanks Tara- I think my husband said it was almost 2 cords! (And this was the second pile I stacked!!)
@sparkleplenty1 Thanks Joyce! It's even a bit chilly tonight, but not cold enough for the woodstove yet, thank goodness!

@zandme @alia_801 @edie

Thanks Tasha, Alia and Edie!

@edie Edie, this is an example of what I was talking about on your mailbox shot. This picture was down right boring. So I took out the color, put it in sepia and added a frame called "dauggertype" in Picmonkey and it changed the atmosphere to the whole picture. I then added a second frame which puts the photo corners on and makes it look like it's in an old-fashioned photo album/scrapbook. Now the shot has character but it started out looking like a silly pile of wood.

Bev
I remember having to do that as a kid. We'd have to bring it in and stack it. I don't miss that! This is a great photo. I love the processing. Nice job!

@prttblues @lindag @melorac @sangwann @summerfield @cimes1

Thanks to all! Yes, not such a fun job in the heat of summer, but definitely worth it when sitting in front of a toasty fire in the cold cold winter!

I used to love chopping wood but that is a lot of wood!
September 4th, 2012
@potsbypam Thanks Pam- I don't chop it (thankfully!)- Jeff does it with a splitter. But I do stack it. I like the exercise and it helps him out.
September 5th, 2012
I like the oldy worldy feel to this photo Ann. Now you will have the chore of bringing the wood inside during winter.
September 5th, 2012
@nicolecampbell Yes, I do that too! Mostly because Jeff is never home when it needs to be done. I wonder how he manages to time that so well!
