I was really stumped on this one- all the things I haven't done before (and still want to do) were things I cannot afford to do at the moment (like taking a ride in a hot air balloon!). Other things which I thought fit the challenge were photography related and were things I have not done before, but they are also things I am not particularly inclined to do (like asking a stranger for a picture or photographing a major sports event). So what to do...what to do? When I couldn't really come up with any solid idea, I decided to move on to the Mull Over March word which was chocolate. Oh! I knew I wanted to save those chocolate eggs I had on Sunday- but they've long since been digested! Seems like chocolate was striking out too. But then it came to me- this thing I haven't done before didn't necessarily have to pertain to the actual act of me, myself and I doing something. It could also apply to a shot I haven't done before. Ahhhh! I haven't photographed a drip before- and since today's Mull Over March word list asks, "Why not?", I put the question together with the intended subject, "Why not photograph a chocolate drip?!" I came up with two variations. Which one do you prefer? The alternative is in my second album.
Wonderful capture! You caught the drip at just the right moment before it falls away. I want to reach out my finger and catch it. I am heading over to check out the other one now...
I LOVE this!! The simplicity, the drip you caught, the contrast against the soft background. When I was reading your description I was thinking the end of the story was that you'd never eaten hershey's syrup straight out of the bottle. The drip made MUCH more sense!
This chocolate one is cool, and if you ever have the chance for a hot air balloon ride, do it. The one we did last year was out of this world. A great experience.
@pflaume Thank you Lisa! @summerfield Thank you Vikki! It's not bad for the first time out- and syrup that was pretty quick on the drip! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @taffy Thank you Taffy! lol Actually, I haven't done that either! But I have drunk milk out of the carton! @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @inertie Thank you Pinar! Indulge- but not too much! You don't want to regret it tomorrow! @alia_801 Thank you Alia- this may have been the easy way out. I also came up with the notion that I have never climbed on our roof before too. @filsie65 Thank you Phil! Good luck with your "training". It's a grueling shot- but someone has to get it. @gerry Thank you Gerry! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! You won't get much of an argument from me. I think all my followers know how I feel about chocolate covered strawberries! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! It's on my wish list! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen! @tara11 Thank you Tara! My itty bitty tripod was a handy photographer's assistant for this and today's shot also.
Great shot! It must have been hard getting this! I've been up in a hot air balloon (but not free floating ... they held on to the rope so we wouldn't float too high above the trees... I have a photo of that in my FB albums somewhere! Try and find it!).... I really like how you caught this chocolate in mid drip! Did you have to set your shutter speed or was it a natural slow drip? Either way, you caught it perfectly and it's so clear and focused! Great job!! And again .... thanks to you and Henri, I want chocolate now!!
Thank you ladies! To capture this shot, I set the ISO at 400 and put my camera on my little mini tripod. I put the timer on and when the light started flashing, I took the choc. syrup bottle and tilted it just a bit so that the syrup would start to pour out on to the plate below. It took only a few tries to get the right shot.
