Today's Just 4 June word was beach or swimming pool. It was pouring rain today and we even had three power blips, so the beach or pool were not on the activity list today! I decided it would be fun to pull out some of my older photos and scan them into the computer for some of the June words, so here's the first installment. "Pandy" was the name of my grandfather and grandmother's home in Brielle, NJ. We went there a lot in the summer months to swim in the pool and I have a lot of fond memories from those days. I wanted to give this old black and white a vintage look so I noodled around with the processing and came up with this. I think that's my father helping me off the diving board in to the deep end of the pool.
A father's strong hands, good memories and the lazy days of summer- all things that have brought me joy.
This is wonderful! I thought it was a current photo processed for a vintage look. All the more interesting to know it is vintage! (No offense, of course!)
:)
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! I'm very thankful for the childhood I had. It was a good one all in all. @alia_801 Thanks Alia! I'm particularly pleased with this one. @ellimae Thanks Ellen! I'm not sure who took this picture because Dad was usually the photographer and he's in the water with me. Maybe my Mom. @sangwann Thank you Dione! @dakotaburns Thank you Donald. I wanted a certain color for the pool- something that would remind me of the color but stay in the b/w range of the old photo. It took some doing, but I found it.
Ann, this is so nostalgic. And I love how there is wild looking forest, but Greek inspired statues by the pool! And your dad helping you down! This gives me goosebumps!
@espyetta Aww- thanks MaryBeth. The back of the property was left a little overgrown like that for privacy I think. There were neighbors not too far off to the right of this shot, but a big hedge blocked their view of the pool too. It was a beautiful piece of property from all I can remember.
@allie912 Thanks Allison! That's my father and I. Looks like I was being introduced to "the deep end". Glad you like the processing. I was going for a particular look and feel here.
Thank you Kerri!
Thank you Maggie!
Thank you Taffy!
