June 17, 1978 was definitely one of the most joyous days of my life. And I must say, my marriage has continued to bring all kinds of joy to me. It hasn't always been easy, and I certainly wouldn't want Jeff to try this now, but even with the trials and tribulations, there has also been lots of love and laughter. Today's Just 4 June word is wedding and this shot has always been IMHO the most joyful shot of our special day so I thought I would pull this from the archives and post it for the Joy In June challenge too.
Oh i love this. Definite joy in your expressions! Happy anniversary!!!! how wonderful, and I think Jeff SHOULD try this again and set up the shot exactly how this one was and do a comparison :)
Thank you Kerri, Ana, Tara, Meg, Jerri, Rick and Taffy for all the anniversary wishes. I will share them with Jeff. I had to chuckle over the 70's comments- 1978 was definitely the 70's! @moreyoulessme Oh, Jerri, if I was still this size he could, but not the way I am right now!
Thank you Nicole! Funny story about those shoes- found them abandoned in a dorm room before I came home after graduation. Cleaned them up, polished them and wore them at my wedding! I kept them for years but never wore them really after my first son was born. It's hard to chase little boys around in platform heels! About 15 years ago now I helped to clean out my grandmother's house (the one where the pool was) and had all these vintage hats (over 80!) of my grandmother's to find homes for. A friend showed me a place where I could sell them and I brought my shoes along too because the owner said she was looking for 70's stuff. They sold for $15 which really made me laugh having saved them from going in a dumpster all those years ago! They were definitely funky!
What a Wonderful couple you make! You can see the love in both of your eye's!! I had to lol...that you wouldnt want him to try this now! You should have seen me try to do a Cartwheel on the trampoline yesterday with my grandchildren!! HA! more like a Cart fell!! Oh well we all had a good laugh and my son video it! I must be on u-tube somewhere embarrasing myself as usual!! You both look glorious in your whites! :)
Magnificent. You are such a happy couple then and now. Unfortunately today's weddings are different from our days. Many of them break up at the first hitch.
Thank you all for the warm wishes! It is a fun shot to look back on and it was a truly happy day. Jeff's parent's were not pleased with the wedding-they felt we were too young. In some ways they may have been right, but after all these years I can truly say they were wrong. I think our "youth" worked in our favor although it was true that we "really didn't know what we were getting into"! You are right Dione @sangwann . The mindset now is it should be easy. So if it's not what you expect or it doesn't go the way you want, you drop it and move on to the next thing. It's not easy to work things out. And sometimes compromise is not pleasant. But all in all, if you love the person, it's worth it! @ellimae Oh my Ellen! I don't think I could even climb on to a trampoline, let alone do a cartwheel on one!
Thank you Roe Jan, Nada, Suzie, Henri, Mark, Suze, Bruni, Vesna, Alia, and Kathryn! Your well wishes are so kind! It is fun to look back on the day since it was a happy one- in spite of some craziness from one of my bridesmaids and some instability on Jeff's parents. But we made it through and don't they say that those things make a marriage stronger anyway? I guess it was true for us- and we still have just as much fun- without Jeff having to lift me in the air- lol!
What a great photo!! You look so young and lovely (you still are btw!!) and so happy as does he. Congratulations on still being together to this day. It's a great accomplishment and you've got your kids and grandkids because of it. You deserve all the happiness on the planet and Jeff is lucky to have you in his life.
