Today's Try 4 July word is "winter". It is definitely NOT winter here! But for those of you in the southern hemisphere it is, so today's shot is another one from the archives. The shot was taken circa 1940, but I'm guessing on that. I'm not sure who it is either. It could be my uncle or it could be my cousin. I am going to post the shot on FB tomorrow and see if any of my relatives recognize the skier. It was taken not too far from where I live. Someone built a make-shift ski jump which apparently did its job well, because this "fellow" is flying! I did do a lot of touch up work on it as the original shot was pretty old and weather-worn. It's pretty nice to see it looking new again.
Update: My aunt is fairly certain that this is my Uncle John sailing through the air here. According to her, my father and several of his friends as well as my uncle, built a make-shift ski jump alongside the hill. She said they were quite pleased with themselves for having done it. I will have to post a shot of the jump for you to see. The ski jump looks pretty rickety in the picture I have of it, but if my uncle's jump is any indication of how good it was, it looks like it held together!

Thank you Kerri, Taffy, Yao and Laraine! It's fun to go through these old shots even when I can't tell who they are!
You did a good job on this one, Ann. Quite the action capture here, and considering the type of photography equipment available in those days it is amazing still.
@tara11 Thanks Tara! I guess it was- I wasn't born yet!! And I don't know who the photographer was either, but I'm guessing it was my Dad who took the shot.
@allie912 Thanks Allison! I left it pretty much as it was- just filled in all the spots were the photo had been crinkled or flecked from the years of being in storage.

I posted the picture and will probably go back and tag a couple of my cousins and my aunt just to make sure they see it.
@maggiemae That's not such a bad idea Maggie- I'll keep practicing on my family pics and then look into that!
