Get to the Point

It was sort of a blah day as far as inspiration goes. I took this shot, but then didn't really like it- so processing to the rescue!

Shoot 4 September word: pencil
I like what you did with this one

Really funky pencils! Is one in the sharpener backwards?

@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!
@caroleb Thanks Carole!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! No- it's one of those pointy capped erasers you put on the end of the pencil and the way the processing came out in the corner. I've been a little off today- but not that off!

Love that processing! The textures set off the pencil really well, and overall it's just really well composed.

love the contrast and lines in this

I like the pencils on the wood grain. Nice idea.

Your processing gives it a nice sketched effect

This is very cool. Love the effect.

@traceyhn Thank you Tracy!
@sangwann Thank you Dione!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick!
@edie Thank you Edie!

Thanks to all who liked the processing. This is BeFunky's "Inkify" effect. The original shot was taken on my countertop in the kitchen- a smooth formica surface. But the effect threw in the "wood grain" swirl for some reason and really brought the shot to life as you all noted. Oddly enough although this is supposed replicate an ink drawing, to me it looks more like a charcoal drawing because of those thick lines and heavy spots. But it doesn't really matter- it just looks good!

Bev
Very cool, Ann! Love the processing. Makes it look like a page from a coloring book. Well done :)

@northy lol Northy- it was such a boring picture until I did this!
@eniaral Thanks Laraine- although you know my counters are not made of wood- so how it got there, I have no idea!
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I hadn't thought about that but you're right it does sort of look like a coloring book. Well, I will be coming to Vermont sometime before the end of November, possibly in October. I have to work out the transportation details but my sister has sold my father's store and what little stuff she's decided to keep she's putting in storage. I have no idea what to expect, but hopefully there will be a few things I was hoping to see again and maybe keep. But I will keep you posted on the details and set up a get together with you when I know for sure what I'm doing and when I'm doing it!

etsooi is always at the rescue. i tend to go for it these days, too, although lately i'm into that selective colouring thing. very nice processing here, ann.

@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I am trying to apply some of the things I learned from the Patterson book (which I still have to finish!) so when I end up with a boring picture like this I am very upset with myself!! But even so, you can inject some of the Patterson principles with processing hence this crazy concoction.
September 11th, 2013
I like the processing.
September 18th, 2013
@nadaa Thank you Nada! It's not one of the best I've taken, but the processing did help to at least make it interesting!
