I liked the contrast of the Granny Apple and Bosc Pear skins with the wooden table and soft, directional light of this shot as I saw it. But I found I needed to play around with it in post-processing to bring out the gradation of color on the fruit. I also liked how that "tweaking" brought out the depth in the shadow as well.
Shoot 4 August word: apples and pears (season of ripeness)
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! No, I am no pie baker- I just have one apple crumb pie that I make, but it looks nothing like the wonderful stuff you turn out! Jeff always takes a piece of fresh fruit for lunch and these will be consumed some time this week. @janetoner Thank you Jane! Since they are a similar color, I played around with a couple different layouts to find the best way to show they were two different pieces of fruit.
Thanks to all! I am in the middle of a busy week- but since I will be dog-sitting at a friend's house Thursday and Friday, I promise to get caught up on your shots then. Thanks for your patience!!
@filsie65 Thank you Phil! We've got a saying here "it's like comparing apples and oranges" so I was really tempted to alter the word of the day. But in the end- I liked how the Granny and Bosc were a similar color. It's a little unexpected which makes the picture more appealing.
