Last day of the Black and White Book Club! I felt this book was not as beneficial to me as the last one. It was truly geared toward photographers who have more complex equipment and use photo processing programs such as Photoshop which I do not have. However, I did have a few things which I took away from my reading that have improved (at least I think it's improved) my post processing in the areas of contrast, exposure and black and white conversion. After playing around with several "styles" I ended up with a more stream-lined process which I think I prefer.
I made some suet baubles to hang out for the squirrels (if you can't beat them, join them!) as the snow has driven up their interest in the feeders. I really hadn't anticipated the entertainment value in them! This fellow really went to great lengths to get his reward today, but it was so much fun to watch.
Taken in color, saturation and temperature increased, contrast and shadows increased, converted to black and white with blue filter. Shadows increased for contrast one more time and frame added.
Great capture and processing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the book club and also your approach to BW processing. I think you have rocked this month! So many fab images to shod gorgeous it !
Lovely capture - that catchlight in his eye is fabulous :)

Great BW capture. Looking at your calendar view, I can tell that you improved in BW throughout the month. I am with you, I learned more from the first book club. Through the second book club, I did learn the limitations of my bridge camera. (but I did learn more about BW).
Super shot, Ann! It's so cute munching away on his treat! That was very cool of you to put out their own food for them. You do know now that they expect it year round now, right? Squirrels are really fun to watch. We don't have many here at my house that I have seen but then I don't have a feeder right outside my door (. . . yet - I am thinking of getting one for the front and one for the back when I go to my new unit - which I have 18 days to pack up for and I still haven't been able to start). Well done on this one, Ann :)
My thanks to all! And apologies for not including may usual individual replies. My head feels like it's stuffed with concrete and I'm pretty sure I'm running a fever so it's been a day full of liquids and immune system boosters. Hope to be back to my chipper self soon.
