I had gone down to the Bushkill the other day to capture how high it was due to all the rain we've had lately. When I was walking back to the car I noticed this beauty getting ready to bloom in a few days time. I'll have to check on it this week to see if it's opened.
I love thistle! I hav nit however photographed at this stage. Probably because I haven't seen it at this stage. Love the look of this, the Dof and the detai,. Fav!
@aat3877 Thank you Ann! @janiskay Thank you Janice! It was a first for me too. And thanks so much for the fav! @memoriesbydawn Thank you Dawn! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @joansmor Thank you Joan and thanks so much for the fav!!
Nice capture. When we were in Ruidoso, NM they had signs all over the town to "kill the thistles now to avoid a fine." I guess they are pretty intrusive. I didn't know that.
My most humble thanks to everyone- especially those who fav'd it! I was so pleased to see it'd made an appearance on both the TP and the PP! You folks are wonderful!
@alia_801 Not much editing here- sharpening and a slight bit of contrast. That is really how it looked.
@henrir Yes, they aren't as bad as Dandelions, but their roots go pretty deep and unless you get the root out, you'll be getting thistles forever. They really aren't an ugly plant but for gardeners they rob the soil of nutrients for the flowers they've planted so they become a nemesis after a while.
