Gathering the Garlic Bunches by olivetreeann

Gathering the Garlic Bunches

After they've been pulled from the earth, the garlic bulbs are tied together in bunches and then placed on a cart to be brought to the barn for drying.
Interesting shot of the harvesting

I just bought a huge bulb of garlic for 99 cents. I hope the workers get a fair per centage of this!

@ninaganci Thank you Nina!
@allie912 Thank you Allison! Well, on these smaller private farms, they do, however the ones you buy in the supermarket mainly come from China, and those workers do not. In fact, most watch-dog organizations list farm workers in countries such as China under the category of human trafficking they are treated so miserably and basically locked in to that job with no way out.

I've done this a number of times in my own little garden, and have always taken pictures. Such a neat process. Beautiful shot.

@olivetreeann I will have to check country of origin next time. They were in a bin with no signage.

@wordsmith Thank you Teresa!
@radiogirl Thank you Kathy!
@allie912 If your supermarket buys them locally that's great. I don't think ours does though. If it's unmarked, but not local, it's probably from out of the country. However, it you've got a farmer's market nearby, they probably sell local garlic and of course, then you know exactly where it came from!
