We checked the tomb, but He was not there.
The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 28, verses 1 through 5.
The Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, Israel is cared for by the Anglican church. For a long time it was believed to be the site of Golgotha, but more recent archaeological finds concerning the walls around Jerusalem during the life of Jesus has changed that opinion. The garden is still a lovely place to contemplate the events of Passion Week. Among the lovely alcoves and cultivated flora there is a fourth century tomb which bears this plaque. It may not have been the actual site of the resurrection, but this joyful proclamation reminds us of the words spoken to His disciples so long ago.
Wishing you all a joyous Easter and a blessed day!
Very impressive I really enjoy the commerations of this time of the year. I am always wanting to visit this sacred place but never make up mymind to do so. Besides, Christine (my wfe) is always afraid to go there because of the not very peaceful situation in the middle east.
