Postcards my grandmother sent to me when she was on vacation. The one in the lower left however, is one I sent to her.
When I was young I loved collecting post cards and my grandmother gave me a whole box of them once. Through the years I've added a few more. I took a fun trip down memory lane while pulling these out for today's word.
@skipt07 Thanks Skip! The postcard did not really give any indication of where it was from on the back. I can tell you this though- my grandmother was not one to travel far from home, so my guess is that it came from the Pocono region even though we are not typically "Pennsylvania Dutch".
@olivetreeann - I live near New Wilmington, PA which has a large Pennsylvania Dutch community and I'm not Pennsylvania Dutch. Although I do have German ancestors.
I need a vacation, or a holiday as we call it. I am going to Melbourne on Sunday for work and will have some time on Sunday afternoon to myself so I guess that counts as a mini vacation.
Some great memories. I love how the postcards are all so different. Reminded me of my Grandma who used to spend ages looking at postcards when we holidayed in Cornwall in England.
Postcards were a fabulous way to remember a place that you visited. I used to collect postcards from every place that I visited. I have no idea what happened to my collection.
@skipt07 haha- it's the way I worded it- I meant the Pocono region is not typically Pennsylvania Dutch. However, I do have Dutch blood in me thanks to the Grandma who sent me these postcards!
