Our photo club went back out to the bog today to take more shots for our guide book project. It was a great day for a photo walk but boy was I sore by the end of it!
These tiny little blossoms belong to the Bog Cranberry and eventually the berries will appear after the flowers have disappeared (I actually did find one cranberry). The fun thing about this shot is you can see how the plant got its name. They were originally called "craneberries" because the little flower resembles a crane (take a close look at the center flower). That name got shortened to cranberry which the name it is known by today. The only thing this picture does not do is show how tiny they really are!
Never seen those. Granberries grows on one place only in our country, The island Terschelling.
The story tells that a barrel of it was wash ashore after a shipwreck and start to grow.
Thank you so much for all those views and comments! I have had a really busy week with different projects and preparing for our upcoming trip to see our son & his family in Kentucky. Time for bed now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
