I totally agree and I love your light setting for this one. I may have to keep that in mind for future use. I also am fascinated with the position of the “stem”
@milaniet Thank you Milanie! Yes, it sure has been beautiful. I wish I had the kind of lens to capture Mars when it's nearby but I don't.
@allie912 Thank you Allison! @louannwarren LOL Thank you Lou Ann! @golftragic Thank you Marnie! While I do have a zoom lens that could probably handle moon shots for the T3i, I generally shoot them with my Canon Powershot. The attached lens goes from 24 to 1200 with a 50x optical zoom. I really have no idea what that means since I have no capacity for math, but through experience and advice from another 365er I've learned 200 ISO works best (although 100 and 400 are ok) with daylight setting on the AWB. For fun though you can switch to tungsten and florescent and get different colors. You definitely need a tripod or something to balance the camera on. You can also play around the degree of light (+ or -) to bring out shadows and contrast. The best shots I've gotten are ones where I've merged 3 shots together. One at 0, one at -1 and one at +1 -sort of a mini version of hdr. This camera just loves moon shots!
@onewing Thanks Babs! @grammyn Thank you Katy- by all means use it! I think I pulled this "trick" off of Youtube. As for the stem, yes, you'll see it differently because of your more southern location. Isn't that fun?!
